Comic Reviews – 11-13-13

detailHere is this week’s reviews rundown. Pretty awesome week. I still have to read the new Star Wars by Brian Wood as well as the Injustice Annual. Time is at a premium this time of year, PS4 and all.

Batman #25 – 8.0

The Walking Dead #116 – 8.7

All New X-Men #18 – 7.7

Savage Wolverine #11 – 7.6

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #5 – 9.2

Superior Spider-Man #21 – 8.4

Let’s start things off with Batman. Oh boy, has Scott Snyder turned around Zero Year. I don’t know about you, but Zero Year has been a pretty big disappointment for me in terms of story telling. It just hasn’t seemed up to par with what Snyder has been putting out as of late. It’s hard to explain and put a finger on it, but something about this arc just doesn’t seem right. Fortunately, it seems to have turned itself around with the last two issues. Still, I feel that this story would be better told in an offshoot miniseries instead of the core Batman series.

Moving on, The Walking Dead has proven that Robert Kirkman is a living comic book genius. This man knows how to churn out a story month to month that rarely seems to lack a compelling hook. All Out War is the culmination of his Negan-era series and oh boy are we in for a treat here. With the rapid release schedule of the book yet to rear itself to us, I am giddy to be able to read this book every other week from here on out.

Finally, I will end with my book of the week, Superior Foes of Spider-Man. What can I say? This has been such a great and consistent book since it has come out. This is as funny and entertaining a book as you can find this side of Hawkguy. As a matter of fact, this book is actually giving Hawkguy a run for its money. If you have been sleeping on this book, that’s too bad. There is redemption for you though. I feel comfortable enough at this point to be able to recommend this series to you no holds barred. You won’t be disappointed. If you are after you read this, then let me know what floats your boat because if this doesn’t, what does?

What were your favorite books this week? Let me know.
