Digital Jump – The Pull – 3-16-16
I think I have finally made my decision to jump to digital. In some ways, this doesn’t make any sense. In others, it makes perfect sense.
You see, my comic book shop offers a 10% discount on all books in your pull list. This more than covers the tax of the book. In fact, I’m getting a slight discount on the cover price. So in effect, buying physical books is not only cheaper, but it gives me the one thing you don’t get when you go digital, tangibility. But then you have to add in the cost of bags and boards, long boxes, and storage; when you take that into account, the cost doesn’t add up.
And that brings me to my argument for going digital. Despite owning a house, I am running out of room to store these comic books. The guest bedroom is filling up with long boxes. Before too long, they are going to have to make their way to my spider web infested basement. This means I’m going to have to trudge my way down there to store my comic books with the others. I know, first world problems, right? Well, I can solve those “problems” by going digital. In a way, I’m just done with paper. You know, the environment and all.
But I’m not going cold turkey right off the bat. I plan on finishing series that I am invested in. For example, Injustice will eventually come to an end and I want to have the entire run cataloged in my collection. Mini series that I am collecting will stay in my pull list. This entails a bunch of indie stuff. Marvel and DC? You’re going digital, my friends.
The time has come for me to move on from paper and embrace the digital, comic reading lifestyle.
That said, here is my pull list for this week:
Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #6
Huck #5
Injection #8
Low #12
ODY-C #10
Astonishing Ant-Man #6
Until next time!
