The Pull – 7-2-14
Well, well. Last week was great. We had the new Geoff Johns/John Romita Jr. takeover of Superman that turned out to be fantastic. We also saw another excellent entry into Warren Ellis’ Trees. What a great series this is turning out to be. Quickly, Ellis is turning into one of my favorites creators, which ties in directly to this week’s fair:
Robocop #1
Swamp Thing #33
Lazarus #9
Satellite Sam #9
Moon Knight #5
Original Sin #5
Let’s just put this simply, Moon Knight is awesome. Warren Ellis is finding ways to weave individual, self-contained stories into the series that makes each entry fresh and exciting. These are very quick reads too, you can blow through any one of these issues in just a few minutes. Still, the ride is totally worth the price of admission.
Moving on, I am looking forward to Image’s offerings this week. Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s Lazarus has been dark and exciting. These two men are more than passionate about their work here and it shows. Also, Matt Fraction’s Satellite Sam has been one of my favorite books in recent memory. This is an adult-themed book, so sorry kiddos, you may need to wait a bit before diving into this one. Just when Fraction makes you think the plot is going nowhere, he throws a curve ball right at you and you are left with your jaw dropped. Not to mention that Howard Chaykin is a bad ass.
Well, that’s all I have for this week. What do you plan on picking up? Let me know!
